A six-year-old boy riding a scooter in a regional Queensland town has been killed after he was struck by a ute driven by a 35-year-old man.

A six-year-old boy riding a scooter has died after being hit by a car in a rural Queensland town.

The boy was struck by a ute about midday on Sunday while riding his scooter on Saint Francis Drive in Moranbah, police said.

The ute was being driven by a 35-year-old man.
