Bradbury admits 'bad day' after radio call

Labor MP David Bradbury says he got it wrong when he accused a radio presenter of Liberal bias.

Labor frontbencher David Bradbury says he was having a bad day and "got it wrong" when he rang a Sydney radio station and accused a presenter of Liberal bias.

The assistant treasurer and member for the marginal western Sydney seat of Lindsay called in to local station Smooth FM on Tuesday to talk about the coalition's position on interest rates.

But when presenter Glenn Daniel challenged him over whether he was misrepresenting the coalition's position, Mr Bradbury grew agitated.

"Sorry Glenn are you, are you a Liberal party member here or what's going on?" he said.

When Mr Daniel persisted with his questioning, Mr Bradbury said: "This is extraordinary, I've never experienced anything like this, do you do this all the time?"

Mr Bradbury now admits he did not handle the interview well.

"Yesterday wasn't one of my better days," Mr Bradbury told AAP on Wednesday after visiting a school with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

"On this occasion I got it wrong, but at least I'm out there fighting for (my community) and I will keep doing that."

He says the media plays a vital role in politics.

"They have a job to do. We have a job to do and it's always better if you respect the role that everybody plays," Mr Bradbury said.
