The battling Sydney Kings will attempt to address their rebounding woes by getting NBL legend Mark Bradtke to work with their big men, but the position of coach Andrew Gaze hasn't been discussed.

The Kings have slumped to 1-4 following two heavy defeats in the latest round.

They lost 90-73 to New Zealand Breakers getting hammered 49-29 on the boards.

Two nights later they were smashed 114-84 by Adelaide, whose 69 points in the first half was the most in the league's 40-minute era.

It was also a bad round for the NBL's other big city glamour club Melbourne United, who lost 89-84 away to Perth and 88-76 in their first home game of the season to the surging Breakers.

Kings' general manager Jeff Van Gronigen said he had not had any conversations with club owner Harvey Lister about Gaze's position.

"We haven't had a discussion about coaching because we have a coach under contract and we want him to do well," Van Gronigen told AAP.

Acknowledging the club's problems on the boards, Sydney will turn to Melbourne-based Bradtke, an eight-time NBL leading rebounder, who will travel to Sydney to spend a concentrated block of time helping Sydney's young bigs Isaac Humprhies, Amritpal Singh and Dane Pineau.

"Ingraining into their psyche the things that he had in his career, as far as his knowledge of how to go after those rebounds and those techniques that worked for him," Van Gronigen said.

Sydney haven't ruled out recruiting an import big man before injured captain Kevin Lisch returns from a long-term calf injury.

Van Gronigen revealed that prior to Lisch's injury the Kings had planned to use their spare import spot on a big man, once the NBA teams had finalised their rosters.

They have no import vacancies at the moment, having signed guard Jeremy Kendle as a short-term replacement for Lisch, but are keeping their options open.

Gaze, who lost his assistant Dean Vickerman to Melbourne United, where he became head coach, isn't looking to make any full-time additions to his coaching staff.

"If Andrew felt that he needed extra resourcing in that coaching area I'm sure we would be very amenable to that, but he's got two very able assistants with Lanard Copeland and Luke Kendall involved," Van Gronigen said.
