Brandis now officially headed to London

Former attorney-general George Brandis is finally, officially off to London.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop on Tuesday announced her former colleague will take over from Alexander Downer as UK High Commissioner.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced late last year he would be recommending the former senator for the post, after widespread speculation.
