Brazil arrests two IS terror suspects

Police in Brazil have arrested two suspects on terrorism-related charges.

Police in Brazil have arrested two alleged Islamic State sympathisers in the second phase of raids that earlier led to the detention of 12 people days before the Olympic Games started in Rio de Janeiro.

Federal police said in a statement that the two suspects were arrested Thursday in Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city.

The suspects, who were not identified, were arrested on terrorism-related charges.

In late July, police carried out raids that led to the detention of 12 suspects who allegedly discussed attacking the Olympics.

They were put in temporary arrest in a maximum-security prison even though Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes called them complete amateurs.
