Australian swim coach Scott Volkers, who has faced sex abuse claims, has been barred from the Rio Olympics by Brazilian officials.
Australia asked Brazil's Olympic Committee to not accredit Volkers, who has been working in Brazil since 2011, for any Olympic role following a damning review by the child sex abuse royal commission.
BBC Brazil is reporting that the Brazilian Olympic Committee has heeded Australia's request, with his current swim club in Belo Horizonte confirming the decision.
The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has yet to be officially told of the move, an AOC spokesman said on Wednesday, but had pushed for Volkers to be overlooked for any role at the Rio Games.
The child sex abuse royal commission expressed disappointment Volkers wasn't convicted of allegations he abused young swimmers in Australia in the 1980s and 1990s.
The commission reviewed the decision by the Queensland and NSW Departments of Public Prosecutions to drop charges brought against Volkers by swimmers he coached.
Volkers, one of Australian swimming's foremost coaches, was committed to stand trial in 2002 on seven charges of indecently dealing with a child under the age of 16.
But the Queensland DPP dropped the charges saying there was no reasonable basis for conviction.
AOC president John Coates recently wrote to his Brazilian counterparts, urging them not to accredit Volkers for the Rio Olympics this August.
"We do not think he should be involved on the pool deck, in the Olympic village or at all in the Rio Olympic Games," Coates told reporters on May 7.
