BRC board members seek re-election

The three retiring Brisbane Racing Club board members are expected to seek re-election at next month's annual general meeting.

The three retiring Brisbane Racing Club board members will seek re-election at the annual general meeting.

Under the BRC constitution three board members must retire each year but they can nominate for re-election at the AGM, which this year is on October 18.

The AGM will attract more than usual attention as the BRC has been hit by a series of unfortunate incidents in the past 12 months including the closure of Eagle Farm because of problems with the renovation of its surface and a blackout on Melbourne Cup day.

The vice chairman, Richard Morrison, and board members David Dawson and John Shepherd will retire but all have indicated they will nominate for re-election.

It is understood there will be at least one and possibly two other nominations which close on Wednesday week.

The BRC held a members' promotion day at Doomben on Saturday with about twice the normal size crowd attending the meeting.
