Brexit shouldn't impact Aust-EU trade deal

Australia's High Commissioner to the UK believes Brexit shouldn't diminish the chances of negotiating a free trade deal with the EU.

Australia's top diplomat in the UK believes Brexit shouldn't hurt the nation's chances of negotiating a free trade deal with the European Union.

Australia is trying to seal a trade deal with the EU and High Commissioner to the UK Alexander Downer expects the UK's exit from the bloc shouldn't impact talks, despite political uncertainty.

"There's no reason why it would diminish those prospects," he told ABC radio on Tuesday.
