The cause of death of two people whose bodies were found on a beach north of Brisbane remains unknown, as police reveal the woman was a Canadian tourist.

The bodies of the 38-year-old woman and 39-year-old Queensland man were found with a jet ski nearby on Bribie Island on Saturday morning.

Police are awaiting autopsy reports and are still treating the deaths as suspicious.
