Following consecutive defeats at Bournemouth in the league and the League Cup in the space of four days, Hughton expects a response from his squad when they host Newcastle United on Sunday.
"The key is going to be responding to them (disappointing results)," Hughton told reporters.
"Putting them in the past and focusing on the next games and also trying to be happy with the majority of what you're seeing both in games and training.

"The players' mindsets have been very good and so has the training and what we need to do is put as much of that into practice on the main arena and the next opportunity is against Newcastle."
Rafa Benitez's Newcastle also made a slow start on their return to the top-flight this season but have recovered well to claim three consecutive wins.
Hughton said the Tyneside club are reaping the benefits from the transfer business they did last year.
"Recruitment is not just about one window, Newcastle recruited really well last season and some of the players doing particularly well for them at the moment are ones that were bought last season," Hughton said.
"They've got lots of qualities and different ways of winning games."
Hughton said he will make a late decision on the availability of on-loan Chelsea winger Isaiah Brown, who has resumed training following a hamstring injury.
Striker Glenn Murray is back in contention along with captain Bruno after he recovered from a recurring back trouble.
