Six months on from Brisbane's devastating floods the city is almost back to normal.

On January 13, the Brisbane River peaked at 4.46 metres, swamping thousands of homes and businesses across the city.

Six months on, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says 90 per cent of flood-damaged parks have reopened, and 90 per cent of footpaths and other infrastructure has been repaired.

About $6 million from the combined lord mayor's appeal and recovery package has also been distributed to community groups, he said in a statement.

"January's flood event was devastating, but six months on Brisbane residents and council staff have come together and thanks to their incredible work the city is back open for business and stronger than ever," he said.
