Brisbane bus drivers strike for second day

Brisbane commuters can expect more delays as bus drivers take industrial action for a second day.

Brisbane bus drivers will strike for a second day over an ongoing pay dispute about pay, safety and conditions.

Thousands of commuters are expected to face lengthy delays on their way to work and school on Wednesday, as hundreds of Brisbane City Council staff walk off the job for two hours.

It comes the day after drivers took industrial action at the same time, between 4.30am and 6.30am, on Tuesday.

Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner on Monday accused staff of leaving customers "high and dry".

But Rail, Train and Bus Union secretary Tom Brown said it was a "last resort" in an attempt to get the council back to the negotiating table.

Mr Brown said the dispute centred around proposed pay increases, conditions and safety issues following the fatal attack on driver Manmeet Alisher, also known as Manmeet Sharma, last year.

Buses leaving the Carina, Upper Mt Gravatt, Toowong and Eagle Farm depots will be affected on Wednesday.
