Brisbane kids' hospital could get new name

Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles says confusion could prompt a name change for the state's main children's hospital.

Brisbane's Lady Cilento Hospital could be renamed to clear up confusion about whether it's a public or a private facility.

Queenslanders will have a month to have their say on a proposal to change its name to the Queensland Children's Hospital, after medical practitioners raised concerns and a survey showed most parents didn't know it was a public facility.

The hospital was named after Phyllis Dorothy Cilento, a pioneering doctor, but Health Minister Steven Miles says he's been convinced there might be a case to change it.
