A Brisbane woman has delivered her baby 25 weeks into her pregnancy after suddenly falling ill while visiting family in New Zealand.
Brodie Soster's little girl, Billie Ava Stevens, weighed just 510 grams when she arrived prematurely at a Christchurch hospital on October 5.
Billie remains in a humidicrib and is expected to be in a special care ward for around six months.
She was delivered via emergency c-section after Ms Soster fell seriously ill and was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome, a serious and rare form of pre-eclampsia.
Doctors told her she would be in a lot of danger if her baby wasn't delivered quickly.
Her partner Scott Stevens rushed from an army course in NSW to be at her side for the birth.
Both sets of grandparents also flew from Australia for the early delivery.
In an update to a GoFundMe page for Billie, Ms Soster said there had been positive signs from her bundle of joy.
Her milk had been increased and a head scan had come back normal, she said.
"I also met a beautiful 17-year-old girl that was a 27-week-old premmie weighing 750 grams and it's so great to see these little babies grow up into beautiful people. Gives us a lot of hope," she wrote.
The GoFundMe page was set-up by Mr Stevens' sister, Louise Stevens, to reduce the family's stress and has so far raised more than $21,000.
"Billie has a very long road ahead of her ... this beautiful girl is one hell of a fighter but you wouldn't expect anything less, after all she is Scott and Brodie's baby," she wrote.
