Public transport will be free in southeast Queensland from 10am as people are encouraged to return home before the worst of the rain hits.

Brisbane residents are being urged to get home before the worst of the rain hits, with public transport in southeast Queensland free from 10am (AEST).

Translink say there are currently delays on all train, bus and ferry services.

Public transport will continue to run while it is safe to do so.

Buses in Mackay have been cancelled due to the wild weather.
