Brisbane's Myer Centre evacuated

Thousands have had their Christmas shopping disrupted after Brisbane's busy Myer Centre was evacuated when alarms started sounding on Sunday.

The Myer Centre in the Brisbane CBD has been evacuated on one of the busiest Christmas shopping days of the year.

Thousands of shoppers poured into the Queen Street Mall after they were told to leave when alarms sounded in the Myer department store around 2.30pm on Sunday.

The Queen St bus station is also accessed from the centre.

Police say the Myer Centre evacuation was due to a fire alarm.

"No fire & situation is under control," police media tweeted.
