Sarah Palin's daughter is waiting for US President, Barack Obama, to apologise for comments that television host Bill Maher made about her.

Bristol Palin says the president is "only willing to defend certain women", after he apologised to Sandra Fluke for comments made by conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

But some say the name calling from both camps points to a wider issue -- a culture of degradation to women in political discourse in the US.
