Brit tourists die in Vietnam waterfall

The bodies of three British tourists have been found near Vietnam's Datanla waterfall after they were swept away in a dangerous whirlpool.

Three British nationals have died during a tour of a popular waterfall in Vietnam.

The bodies of the tourists, who have been named in media reports over the weekend as Christian Sloan, 25, Izzy Squire, 19, and Beth Anderson, 25, were found near the Datanla waterfall, a popular tourist spot in Vietnam's Lam Dong province.

The group was taken to the area by unofficial tour operator Dam Me Co, Tuoi Tre News reported.

Tour guide Dang Van Sy told the news site that they were swept away by a "dangerous whirlpool" after sliding down the stream.

"I did not dare to jump to save them as I would also be killed in the same manner," Sy said.

In a statement, the British Foreign Office said it was "providing support to the families of three British nationals following their deaths near Dalat, Vietnam".

"We are in close contact with local authorities in Vietnam on their behalf," it added.
