Britain condemns Iranian attack on Israel

The UK has condemned Iranian missile attacks on Israel and called on Russia to use its influence to prevent further attacks.

Britain has condemned Iran's attacks on Israel and called on Russia to use its influence in Syria to stop any further attacks, a spokesman for Prime Minister Theresa May says after Iranian forces fired rockets at Israeli army bases.

The attack prompted a strong Israeli response in which dozens of missiles were fired at Iranian and Syrian military targets in Syria.

"We condemn Iran's attack on Israel. Israel has every right to defend itself," May's spokesman told reporters on Thursday.

"We call on Iran to refrain from any further attacks and for calm on all sides. We call on Russia to use its influence in Syria to prevent further Iranian attacks."
