British child migrants' stories told

Former British child migrants to Australia have issued an emotional plea for greater recognition of their plight, as an exhibition chronicles their experiences.

They say government apologies for controversial migration policies of the past have not gone far enough in addressing the specific distress they suffered.

Taken from broken homes and shipped out from Britain, around 7,500 children spent their formative years toiling in orphanages.
