The former political aide of a British MP has unleashed a series of angry tweets - using his employer's professional account - to call his boss a 'morally bankrupt person' and demanding he call a by-election.

In the series of tweets, Gareth Arnold, a former staffer for Jared O'Mara, called the ex-Labour MP "a selfish degenerate prick."

"Jared, you are the most disgustingly morally bankrupt person I have ever had the displeasure of working with," he posted, using Mr O'Mara's official account.

"Consider this my resignation," he said, signing off using his own Twitter handle, before tweeting a mic drop giff.

Mr O'Mara resigned from the Labour party last year, after he was suspended for posting alleged misogynistic and homophobic comments online.

He still holds his seat of Sheffield Hallam but as an independent, prompting Mr Arnold demanded the MP "call a byelection" as part of his Twitter rant.

"Sheffield Hallam deserves so much better than you. You have wasted opportunities which people dare not to even dream of," he said.

Mr O'Mara is yet to respond to the outburst.

Meanwhile Mr Arnold has continued his tirade from his own Twitter account.

"All I want is for Sheffield Hallam to have an MP that cares about them," he tweeted.

"Was it the best way to go about it? Well, I'll find out. Did I exhaust every single avenue possible before I did it? Yes, for many weeks. It's not fair on the people who have serious casework who need help and it's not fair on Sheffield Hallam."

His Twitter bio now reads, "used to work for an MP (for my sins)."
