Broad misses practice for 3rd India Test

Injured bowler Stuart Broad predictably has missed England's first net practice in Mohali before the third Test against India.

England were predictably minus Stuart Broad when they held their first net practice in Mohali before the third Test against India.

Broad, who bowled impressively through the pain of a strained tendon in his right foot in the second-Test defeat in Vizag, appeared highly unlikely to recover in time to play again on Saturday.

He stayed behind at the team hotel, wearing a moon boot to try to accelerate his recovery.

England looked sure to rely on the returning Chris Woakes in his place as they sought to battle back from 1-0 down with three to play.

They are also expected to bring back Jos Buttler for his first Test in 13 months, in place of the out-of-sorts Ben Duckett in the middle order.
