Stuart Broad has a foot problem but England do not yet know how serious it is, according to the bowler's opening partner James Anderson.
Anderson was speaking after a difficult opening day for England as India reached a commanding 4-317 at the end of the opening day of the second Test at Visakhapatnam.
Captain Virat Kohli (151 not out) and Cheteshwar Pujara (119) made centuries for the hosts on a typically slow Indian pitch that Kohli opted to bat first on.
Anderson was England's best bowler, taking 3-44 in his first match for three months following a shoulder injury. However it was Broad about whom there were concerns after the close.
Anderson told Sky Sports 2: "He's got a bit of a foot problem, he's been in the wars, he's got a graze as well on his arm so he's nursing those at the moment in the dressing room.
"He did really well to get through the day. We don't know how serious his foot is."
On his own fitness Anderson, who was recalled in place of Chris Woakes, said: "It feels alright so far.
"It might be a different story at seven o'clock tomorrow morning but I feel good so far. Got through the day without any drama.
"I think it took me a little bit of time to get into the spells, a bit of stiffness as you go through the day, but once I got into the spell I felt fine."
Anderson's third wicket came in the day's penultimate over just after England had taken the second new ball, a decision the tourists had been uncertain about.
The 34-year-old said: "We were umming and ahhing whether to take the new ball actually because the last few days when we've been here there's been a big dew in the morning.
"So the new ball may have been better off in the morning when the guys have had a bit of rest, but we thought two or four overs with the new ball was a good option and I was lucky to get a wicket there."
Yet Anderson admitted that it had been India's day.
"I think they got 40-50 too many today, (we) didn't bowl as well as we would have liked but patches, (like) half an hour before tea they got away from us a little bit.
