The federal government's due to release its long-awaited implementation study into the National Broadband network today.
Communications Minister Steophen Conroy received the report on March 5, and has so far refused to comment on its findings but it's expected to show the cost of the network will be less than predicted.
The study reportedly puts the cost of the project at between 25 and 35 billion dollarswell below the original estimate of 43 billion.
The NBN plan was announced by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd last year as the centrepiece of the government's nation building agenda.
