Port Adelaide defender Matthew Broadbent is certain to return to AFL action against Collingwood on Sunday.

The influential Broadbent was a late withdrawal because of illness for Port's win against Melbourne in Alice Springs last Saturday.

Port assistant coach Michael Voss says Broadbent will return against the Magpies in the MCG fixture, with fellow backman Alipate Carlile also in the selection frame.

Carlile hasn't played since breaking a wrist in round two but looms as a replacement for Jack Hombsch, who will miss at least the next two matches because of a hamstring strain.

Collingwood enter the match with four players in doubt after being hurt in their loss to the Western Bulldogs last weekend.

Magpies Alan Toovey (concussion), Taylor Adams (hamstring), Alex Fasolo (shoulder) and Darcy Moore (collarbone) succumbed to injury but Voss refused to consider Collingwood as vulnerable.

"I never see an opposition as gettable more than another," Voss said.

"The fact is that they will be replaced ... they are missing individuals but it's the actual group that turned it around for them.

"It's likewise for us. There are certain things we need to do ... but in the end we have got to buy in together to get it done."
