Brohman, Vautin off NRL Footy Show

NRL Footy Show host Paul Vautin and panellist Daryl Brohman have been dumped from the struggling show as part of a full restructure.

Footy Show panellist Daryl Brohman has confirmed that both he and host Paul Vautin won't be returning to the program after the Nine Network announced a restructure of the program.

A new show in the same timeslot after Thursday night games will have a stronger rugby league focus and will be hosted by Erin Molan.

"Fatty won't be there, I won't be there ... I think Erin will possibly host it, she's very good at what she does," Brohman told Macquarie Radio.

"Personally I don't see that if Fatty's gone that they can call it The Footy Show. I think he has been The Footy Show. It's been 24 years that he has hosted it."

Brohman said the fact that the show started later this year as it followed the network's Thursday night match telecasts was a turn-off for some viewers.

"That was probably the beginning of the end of The Footy Show. The fact Thursday night footy started ... the show wasn't going on until just before 10pm. It's very late," he said.

He also said he had been in touch with Vautin, describing him as very disappointed over the news.

"I know he's disappointed, I've seen the texts, he's sent me a couple of texts," Brohman said.

It's understood Nine's Sunday Footy Show will remain unchanged, while the network will also introduce a football-focused Monday night show.

The Footy Show has won 11 Logies since its debut in 1993.

However the show took a hit when former panellist Matthew Johns was sacked in 2009 after it was revealed he was involved in a group sex session while playing for Cronulla, and ratings dipped to just 80,000 in some weeks this year.
