Despite winning the NRL's Dally M medal this season, Cooper Cronk could only manage third in Melbourne Storm's player of the year award, finishing behind winner Jesse Bromwich and captain Cameron Smith.
Bromwich was named the club's best player for the third successive year on Saturday night, the New Zealand captain polling 31 votes, four ahead of Smith and eight votes more than Cronk.
Cronk won the league's most valuable player award in 2016, sharing the honour with North Queensland's Jason Taumalolo.
But it was 2016 Dally M Prop of the Year Bromwich who took home the club's top prize, having played every NRL game of the season for the second year running.
It extends Bromwich's impressive streak of appearances for the Storm to 130 out of a possible 131 matches, dating back to 2012.
A six-time Melbourne player of the year winner himself, Smith polled 27 votes during a season in which he led his side to the minor premiership and a sixth grand final appearance in 11 years.
Fijian winger Suliasi Vunivalu was named rookie of the year after a debut season in which he finished as the NRL's leading try scorer with 23 tries.
