Andrew McCullough's injury concerns have eased somewhat, the Brisbane hooker set to miss six weeks due to a hamstring injury.

There were initial fears McCullough might miss the rest of the NRL season after he suffered a suspected knee injury in the Broncos' 30-8 win over South Sydney at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

However scans have since revealed a hamstring problem that will sidelined him for up to six weeks.

That would make McCullough next available for the Broncos' round 14 match against Canberra, with the representative round falling within that time frame.

It is a crucial time for McCullough to return given a number of Brisbane's stars will be away on State of Origin duty over that period.
