Broncos' McCullough booked for surgery

Brisbane hooker Andrew McCullough is still expected to feature in the NRL club's pre-season training despite being booked for finger surgery.

Brisbane hooker Andrew McCullough has been booked for finger surgery but is still expected to feature in the NRL club's pre-season training.

The Queensland rake will go under the knife to correct ligament damage he had been nursing for the final months of the season.

Broncos high performance boss Jeremy Hickmans expected McCullough to be back in pre-season training by December.

"Andrew has had a ligament injury in his finger that he has carried for some time," he told the Broncos website.

"He will have some corrective surgery on that ligament.

"His rehabilitation is not something that will keep him out for too long and he should be back in skills training in December."

McCullough finished the season requiring pain-killing injections for the finger before games.

"Needling it up before games is helping. It's more through the week trying to get through it - overall it is just one of those annoying things," McCullough said before their NRL elimination-final loss to St George Illawarra.

McCullough is the second Bronco booked for surgery in as many days after Brisbane announced Anthony Milford required a shoulder reconstruction.
