Suspended Brumbies winger Chance Peni has been told to keep his aggression despite another tackling ban ending his Super Rugby season.
The former rugby league player was given a six-week ban after being cited in his first match back from another lengthy suspension.
Peni was rubbed out for the third time in a year after being found guilty of a lifting tackle during a club rugby game in Canberra.
It was the former Western Force player's first game at any level since being suspended for five weeks for a dangerous tackle in a match against the Crusaders in April.
Brumbies coach Dan McKellar says he's trying to support the promising 24-year-old as best he could.
"There's definitely some work (for Peni) to do," McKellar said.
"I was with Chance when he faced the judiciary on Monday night. It's disappointing. He's shattered.
"One of Chance's strengths is that he's a physical player.
"He's an in-your-face sort of player and you don't want to take that away. He's just got to control his aggression."
Peni told told Fairfax Media before his comeback game he had been working hard to change his tackling technique, making adjustments after switching codes.
"Coming from rugby league, I was always told to hit a bit higher and try to slow them down," Peni said.
"But I've got to learn I'm not playing rugby league any more and I've got to get that contact lower."
His absence is a blow for the Brumbies as they look to pull off a miracle run at the finals, starting against the Hurricanes at GIO Stadium on Saturday night.
To go with Peni's suspension, the ACT team will be without prop Allan Alaalatoa, co-captain Sam Carter and Lachlan McCaffrey.
