The Brumbies have scored a major coup signing Argentina's World Cup halfback Tomas Cubelli on a two-year Super Rugby deal.

Cubelli has 45 Test caps for Los Pumas and was a key member of their impressive run to the Rugby World Cup semi-finals.

He will be an ideal replacement for Wallabies halfback Nic White, who has left the Brumbies to play in France.

Brumbies CEO Michael Jones said Cubelli opted for the Canberra-based side over the new Argentinian Super Rugby side which will boast 21 of their RWC semi-final squad.

"We are extremely fortunate to have secured Tomas for the next two seasons," Jones said.

"We started our discussions with Tomas and the Argentine national body early in the year and whilst it has been a very long process, we feel our perseverance has well and truly paid off."

Jones said the Argentine Rugby Union saw the value in 26-year-old Cubelli playing alongside so many Wallabies and under Test attack coach and former great Stephen Larkham.

Cubelli will still be available to play Test rugby for Argentina.

Larkham was heavily involved in the recruitment of Cubelli and said he could be a match-winner for the Brumbies.

"We've seen through his performances in the Rugby Championship and the great form he showed at the Rugby World Cup, particularly against the All Blacks, Tomas has the necessary skills and knowledge of the game to successfully fit into our structure, and be a game-breaker in Super Rugby," Larkham said.
