Brumbies win would make Sio a happy camper

Wallabies prop Scott Sio is hopeful a Brumbies win can give him a boost before he links up with Michael Cheika's national camp on Sunday.

A Brumbies Super Rugby victory over the Reds would be prop Scott Sio's perfect entree to this weekend's Wallabies camp.

The 25-year-old is set to make his first start for the Brumbies this season in Saturday night's match at GIO Stadium, having fully recovered from a hamstring injury.

After trying to help his side keep top spot in the Australian conference, Sio will join Wallabies coach Michael Cheika's camp at the AIS in Canberra on Sunday.

With 29 Wallabies caps under his belt, Sio is concentrating on letting his Super Rugby form do the talking.

"I've learnt to keep focusing on what I'm doing here and the rest of that will come," Sio said. "We'll take on camp as it comes on Sunday.

"The vibe around it is always good if you get a good win the day before.

"Hopefully we're a bit more spritely on Sunday compared to the Reds boys."

It will be loosehead Sio's first Super Rugby start with tighthead Allan Alaalatoa, with the duo hopeful of packing down together for the Wallabies this year.

"Our first step towards something like that starts this weekend and making sure we put in a good performance against a Reds front row who have been around for a while," Sio said.

Alaalatoa made his Wallabies debut last year and could get the chance to play for the national side alongside childhood friend Sio.

Meanwhile, Wallabies captain Stephen Moore will be hoping he can inflict some pain on the Brumbies in his first game against his old club since returning to the Reds.

"I've been trying to get Cheik to have a camp in Canberra for the last three or four years," Moore said.

"The minute I move away he's put on one down here."

No stranger to the capital, Moore is relishing a chance to get back to the AIS as a Wallaby.

"I think it will be great to use the facilities there and everything they offer and really narrow our focus around what this year is going to look like for the Wallabies," he said.
