Yellow, red and orange flowers adorned the coffin of Melbourne woman Eurydice Dixon, as mourners gathered to celebrate the budding comedian's life after she was found dead in a park.

Family and friends gathered on Thursday with floral tributes to farewell the 22-year-old, who was raped and murdered in a crime that sparked national outrage.

Many of the 100 mourners were clad in black, and shed tears as they embraced, and consoled each other, with some even sharing a laugh.

Ms Dixon's great uncle Eric Dixon, sister Polly Cotton, drama teacher Tracy Carroll and five friends are understood to have spoken during the service.

The order of service showed images of a young, smiling girl and a woman on stage in a polka-dot dress.

Pictures of You by The Cure and Johnny Cash's We'll Meet Again were among the songs on the service playlist at the private service at a Brunswick funeral directors.

Ms Dixon's body was found on a soccer field in Princes Park in Carlton after she made a late-night, solo walk home following a performance at Melbourne's Highlander Bar on June 12.

Her death prompted comment from state and territory leaders including Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Victoria's Women's Affairs Minister Natalie Hutchins said Australia is enduring a "gendered violence crisis", with 30 women already murdered in the nation in 2018.

"(Eurydice) was denied her right to get home safely, she was denied her right to life," she told parliament on Tuesday.

Ms Dixon's death captured the hearts of Australians, with thousands attending vigils in her honour, including in Princes Park where her body was found.

Jaymes Todd, 19 of Broadmeadows, is charged with her rape and murder.
