Buddy shines in Swans' AFL pe-season win

Star forward Lance Franklin has kicked two goals in his return from shoulder surgery to help Sydney to a 12-point AFL pre-season win over local rivals GWS.

Sydney coach for the night Henry Playfair said it had been a good hitout for his side and that Franklin had been solid throughout the game.

"He impacted the game strongly early and then we didn't give him great supply probably after quarter-time," Playfair said

"He still kept cracking in and bringing the ball to the ground as a minimum."

Giants' coach Leon Cameron said Sydney adapted to the wet conditions far better than his team, some of whom he thought would have been disappointed with their performance .

"They were clearly better in the wet than us and they just played smarter at times and a bit more efficient," Cameron said.

"That was probably the disappointing part from ours, we just played some silly footy at time and over used it in those conditions, which you just can't do."
