Building approvals figures out Thursday are expected to show a very mild downtrend in construction activity.

Approvals for the construction of new homes are forecast to have fallen 3.0 per cent in November, after lifting by an unexpected 3.9 per cent in October, seasonally adjusted.

Westpac economists said building approvals data is yet to catch up to wider market conditions which signalled a cooling late last year, led by the previously hot Sydney market.
