Western Bulldogs young gun Caleb Daniel has signed a new deal that will keep him with the AFL premiers until the end of 2019.

The diminutive 20-year-old has shone in his first two seasons of senior football, finishing runner-up in last year's Rising Star award to Sydney's Callum Mills.

"Caleb has achieved a significant amount in his young career and we're really pleased to extend his contract by a further two seasons," Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said on Tuesday.

"His professionalism and his determination to succeed are an inspiration to his teammates and we look forward to his continued development."

The smallest player in the league at 168cm, Daniel has shown remarkable poise and a hunger for the contest during his brief career.

He cemented his spot in the Bulldogs' midfield last year, playing 24 games after making 10 appearances in his debut season.

The South Adelaide product made a slow start to the Bulldogs' drought-breaking grand final triumph over Sydney but stood tall when the match was on the line.

"The boys have obviously gelled together, are playing pretty good footy and we're really close off field too," Daniel said.

"The way we, as a football club, are able get around each other and love each other is pretty special to me so that's why I'd love to stay around."
