Canterbury prop David Klemmer could miss the start of the NRL season for his dangerous dive at a Melbourne player in a weekend trial.

Klemmer was put on report by referee Grant Atkins on Saturday night after torpedoing into the legs of Storm forward Kenny Bromwich, sparking a minor scuffle between the teams.

The incident came just moments after the NSW State of Origin forward took exception to a heavy tackle on teammate Michael Lichaa in the previous set.

Any charge will be beefed up by a 20 per cent loading carried over from the Bulldogs' infamous Good Friday match against South Sydney in 2015, for which Klemmer copped a three-game ban for contrary conduct.

A grade three dangerous contact charge could wipe the fiery prop out for four weeks. However, a lack of camera vision could work in the club's favour.

Klemmer, along with captain James Graham, had earlier been cleared of a rib injury by club medicos, while second-rower Tony Williams also took a knock to his ankle but should be fit for round one.

Gold Coast forward Zeb Taia could also incur the wrath of the match review committee after being put on report for a dangerous throw on Rabbitohs skipper Greg Inglis, while Penrith utility Isaah Yeo was booked for a crusher tackle on Parramatta club captain Tim Mannah.
