Perth could host up to three NRL games next season, with Canterbury the latest team eager to test the waters in Western Australia.
The Bulldogs have signed a deal to bring a home game to nib Stadium in 2014, with the opponent and date yet to be decided.
South Sydney will also play in Perth next year as part of their agreement to play one game in WA until 2016, with the Warriors their likely opponents.
And Canberra and Manly are among a number of other clubs who have also shown interest in staging a home game in Perth next season.
The Bulldogs will need a crowd of around 13,000 to break even from their venture west.
Chief executive Raelene Castle hopes they can attract somewhere in the vicinity of 20,000 fans to the game.
"We believe we can make it commercially viable," Castle said.
"We've been fortunate to have some learnings from what South Sydney have done, and they've shared those experiences with us.
"We think it will be a great event all round."
Perth's bid to land its own rugby league team was dealt a blow when the NRL decided to put expansion talks on hold until the end of 2014, meaning it's unlikely a new team will be introduced before the current TV rights deal expires in 2017.
The West Australian Rugby League have already launched the name and logo of the team it hopes will be part of the expanded NRL - the West Coast Pirates.
