- League leaders City can capture their third Premier League title in seven years with a victory against their second-placed neighbours.
- The last meeting between the two teams at the Etihad Stadium ended goalless.
- City are aiming to do the double over United for the third time in the Premier League. They won 2-1 at Old Trafford earlier in the season.
- City have won their last five league games while United are on a run of four straight victories.
