Bullets face tough start to NBL return

The Brisbane Bullets' return to the NBL will get off to a tough start when the season begins on October 6.

Brisbane's return to the NBL won't be easy with the returning franchise to start their new lease on life with a tough first round double.

The Bullets, who exited the competition in 2008, face 2015-16 champions Perth Wildcats at home to kick off the new season on October 6.

Just two days later, the revived franchise take on old rivals the Sydney Kings in their second game.

The NBL on Thursday released its draw from the upcoming season, announcing more games across Friday to Sunday.

Newly-introduced Monday night basketball will be played across 10 rounds, while 17 games will be played on Thursday nights.

"The schedule is hectic. You're playing 28 games in 18 weeks," new Sydney Kings coach Andrew Gaze told SEN radio on Thursday.

"It's fun. I'm really looking forward to it."

Four-time champions and last season's runners-up, the New Zealand Breakers, will open their campaign with two high-profile games.

First they host a Melbourne United side sporting two former Breakers' stars in Cedric Jackson and Tai Wesley.

A week later, the Breakers are away to the Wildcats in a repeat of last year's grand final series.

The league again features eight teams, with the Bullets replacing the Townsville Crocodiles.
