Bullets' NBL appeals fail

Brisbane's Adam Gibson and Tom Jervis have both been fined $500 by the NBL after appeals to contest a charge of engaging in a melee or brawl failed.

Brisbane pair Adam Gibson and Tom Jervis have had fighting charges upheld at an NBL tribunal hearing.

The pair chose to contest charges of engaging in a melee or brawl, among a league-wide total of 13 dished out by the NBL after the side's loss to Wollongong on Sunday.

The pair were both fined $500 but are free to face New Zealand in Brisbane on Thursday night.

Nine players from four different clubs were charged for their roles in scuffles by the NBL on Tuesday.

All except the Bullets pair accepted fines with early guilty pleas, while Cairns import Michael Carrera had his two-game suspension for unreasonable contact with the face downgraded to a fine after the Taipans argued his case on Wednesday.

Bullets coach Andrej Lemanis on Wednesday called for clarity from the NBL on what was expected of players when tempers did flare.

Lemanis, who is also the Australian coach, said he expected the same reaction from players if found in the same position against the Breakers on Thursday.
