Health insurance majors Bupa and HBF have agreed to join the Whitecoat health directory and customer review website founded by rival nib.
Bupa and HBF will join nib as investors and participants on the Whitecoat platform, expanding its reach to about six million Australians. The insurers plan to provide consumers the capability to find, book, review and pay healthcare treatment providers, when fully developed.
"There is simply too little transparency when it comes to the customer's experience of the healthcare system. And dealing with healthcare providers remains very 'clunky' in a digital world in which consumers increasingly expect automation," nib managing director Mark Fitzgibbon said.
