Burma president visit 'sends wrong message'

An activist group says the forthcoming visit to Australia by the Burmese President sends the wrong message.

Next week Burmese President Thein Sein will become the first Burmese head-of-state to visit Australia in almost 30 years.

 

But one group - Burma Campaign Australia - says the visit sends the wrong message.

 

Campaign coordinator for the activist group, Zetty Brake, says human rights abuses and lack of democracy continue in Burma.

 

She spoke to Ildi Amon
