Burma's released prisoners 'optimistic'

SBS' senior correspondent Brian Thomson has been speaking to Burma's recently released political prisoners, who are cautiously optimistic about the future for the first time in their lives.

This week's visit to Burma by the foreign minister Bob Carr has provided a rare opportunity for us to report on a country we have been banned from for nearly two decades.

For the past year, Burma has been undergoing dramatic changes.

SBS' senior correspondent Brian Thomson has been speaking to recently released political prisoners all of whom are cautiously optimistic about the future for the first time in their lives.
