Former Australian Test batsman Joe Burns has joined English cricket's Lancashire for the 2019 season.

The 29-year-old, who has played 14 Tests and six one-day internationals for Australia, will be available for 10 of Lancashire's county championship division two fixtures.

The Queensland opener, after previous county stints with Leicestershire and Middlesex, told Lancashire's official website: "Lancashire is a huge county with a fine history in the game and I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to play for the Red Rose next year.

"It will be a huge honour to play at a world-class stadium like Emirates Old Trafford and I am very much looking forward to joining up with the squad.

"I'm determined to put in some match-winning contributions for the side and help Lancashire push for promotion at the first time of asking."
