Three people have been injured after a bus smashed through the front yard of one home before crashing into another two homes in Sydney's north west.

Three people have been injured after a bus ploughed into two houses in Sydney's north west.

The bus was travelling on Epping Road, North Ryde about midday on Saturday when it left the road, mounted the kerb and smashed through the front yard of one home before crashing into another two homes, NSW Police say.

Two women in one of the houses suffered minor injuries and were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for observation while a man in another house also suffered minor injuries but didn't need treatment.

The male bus driver was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for observation and mandatory blood and urine tests.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
