Bushfire burns uncontrolled near Adelaide

The Country Fire Service says a bushfire continues to burn out of control at Yundi on the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide.

A bushfire is continuing to burn out of control south of Adelaide, one of a series sparked as scorching conditions swept across the state.

The Country Fire Service issued a watch and act message on Tuesday in relation to the blaze at Yundi on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

It said the blaze was burning in scrub and posed a threat to people and property in the area.

Water bombers and ground crews were fighting the fire as well as a secondary blaze at nearby Kuitpo Forest.

Residents were urged to activate their bushfire survival plans.

Earlier CFS crews dealt with a string of other fires including one at Woolshed Flat in the state's mid-north.

The blaze was sparked by farming machinery operating in stubble and destroyed about 100 hectares of stubble and scrub.

The threat posed by other fires at Mt Pleasant and Mylor, in the Adelaide Hills, had reduced, the CFS said.

The fires across SA came as temperatures surged with more hot weather in store.

The mercury climbed close to 35C in Adelaide and was forecast to hit 38C on Wednesday.

Temperatures in some regional centres were tipped to go as high as 45C by Thursday.

The CFS also declared an extreme fire danger risk in four SA districts for Wednesday, the northwest pastoral, the west coast, the lower Eyre Peninsula and the Mt Lofty Ranges.

It said severe conditions would also prevail in all other districts.
