Bushfire contained in SA's southeast

The Country Fire Service has contained a fire in South Australia's southeast.

Fire crews have saved homes, farming sheds and $2 million of machinery from a bushfire in South Australia's southeast.

The Country Fire Service says the grass fire at Coombe, near the Dukes Highway, has now been contained.

It was previously burning uncontrolled towards the town of Keith prompting a watch and act message for locals.

A number of other fires are also burning in the area forcing the closure of the highway along with the nearby rail line.

Conditions in the area remain severe with temperatures pushing into the mid-30s on Friday.
