Bushfire contained in WA's Wheatbelt

A bushfire northwest of Brookton in WA's Wheatbelt region has been downgraded from a watch and act alert to an advice warning.

Firefighters have contained a bushfire burning in Western Australia's Wheatbelt, but are urging locals to remain alert to any change in conditions.

The fire broke out northwest of Brookton on Monday afternoon, prompting a watch and act alert, which was later downgraded to advice level.

While the fire is under control, firefighters have warned motorists driving through the area of thick smoke.
