A bushfire that was threatening homes north of Perth has been contained.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has downgraded a watch and act warning for the Two Rocks area to an advice, and say the fire has been contained but is not under control.

"There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area," DFES said in a statement on Thursday night.

Residents are warned to stay alert and monitor the situation.
